Massive MIMO and C-RAN (Cloud-RAN) are promising technologies for the 5th generation (5G) mobile communication systems. When the massive MIMO antenna is used for the distributed unit (DU) of C-RAN, L2 C-RAN is a promising approach to reduce the data volume between central unit (CU) and the DU. L2 C-RAN with massive MIMO requires low complexity scheduling because the scheduler is placed in the CU and needs to select many users. In this report, we propose a low complexity scheduling scheme which estimates the SINR of each user based on channel correlation between users. Computer simulation results show that the complexity of the proposed scheme is reduced to 1/14 in comparison with the scheme based on precoding matrix without throughput degradation. It is also shown that through the shift of the correlation calculation from the CU to the DU the complexity of the proposed scheme is reduced to 1/440 in comparison with the precoding matrix based scheme. |
