Design and Experiment of Fully Canonical Cul-de-Sac Coupling Microstrip BPF with Controllable Direct Source/Load Coupling

(in English) We have proposed a fully canonical Cul-de-Sac coupling microstrip bandpass filter that can realize a generalized Chebyshev function response without using any cross couplings. However, a direct source/load (S/L) coupling of this filter is essentially generated via resonators behaving as transmission lines. Therefore, it is difficult to control the direct S/L coupling only with the resonator structure. This paper introduces a simple coupled-line structure at input/output lines for controlling the direct S/L coupling in the fully canonical Cul-de-Sac coupling filter, thereby enabling the individual control of all the circuit parameters with corresponding geometrical parameters. The generation mechanism and the control method of direct S/L coupling are investigated in detail. The effectiveness of the proposed filter is verified through designs, fabrications, and measurements of third-order and fourth-order bandpass filters.
