Deduplication Estimation System for Large Scale Enterprise Storage

(in English) In recent years, the amount of data handled by enterprise information systems is explodingly increasing.
In order to reduce the storage data amount and to reduce the installation cost of the storage system,
the data deduplication feature is highly demanded.
When the user installs the storage device,
it is desired to estimate the gain of data savings in order to judge the initial necessary capacity.
On the other hand, the enterprise storage system is required to have business continuity 24 hours a day, 365 days,
It holds large capacity data such as several 100 TB to PB.
In order to estimate the gain of data savings by deduplication for such a storage device,
It is necessary to complete the estimate within the assumed time and minimize the impact on storage system during operation.
In this paper, we propose a prototype of the deduplication quotation tool which used
the estimation method that satisfies the above requirements and describe its evaluation.
