A precise control of the molecular orientation of active layer is the significant role in terms of light absorption and charge transport in Organic Solar Cells (OSCs). The fabrication of high-efficiency OSCs has been demonstrated using the p-type DRCN5T semiconductor having a thiophene backbone that involves edge-on oriented on the transparent conductive film substrate. In contrast, face-on orientation is also effective tools for further enhancement of the performance. Herein, we attempt to control face-on molecular orientation using the molecular-substrate interaction by coating DRCN5T solution on copper iodide (CuI), which is known to be a hole transport layer. Analysis of the films revealed that resulting DRCN5T film exhibited face-on orientation and a significant enhancement of the light absorption. Our results suggest a route for the improvement of conversion efficiency of OSCs. |
