Rotated Image Recognition by Continuous execution of Angle Estimation Using a Feature Map with CNN

(in English) Feature extraction by using a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) has made remarkable results in general object recognition. However, even though CNN coped with some degree of distortion in the image and obtained position variance, it was not enough to absorb the diversity by rotating images. In this study, by adding a network that estimates the rotation angle of the rotated images from the feature map obtained from the CNN trained by the non-rotated images, the input images is modified multiple times. The training of the sufficient model for rotated image recognition has become possible. We also verified that the feature map obtained from the CNN is sufficiently useful for estimating the rotation angle.
