The power source of a sensor terminal in the wireless sensor network is often finite because of depending on the battery. Also, since it takes much cost to replace batteries, power saving is indispensable. As one of power saving methods, there is a method in which a communication module in a wireless sensor terminal operates intermittently using sleep control. On the other hand, there is a delay tolerant network that the communication is available under situation where constant network connectivity is not guaranteed and large delay cannot be avoided. In this research, we focus on a delay tolerant wireless sensor network and propose a sleep control method that takes advantage of its characteristics. In the proposed method, the terminal not holding any packet positively sleeps and the packet holding terminal stores the packets until a communicable terminal appears. We will reduce power consumption drastically by means of this method. |
