BOJ253 -- A Large-scale Dataset for Butterfly Recognition --

(in English) The purpose of this paper is to introduce a large-scale butterflies’ image dataset for butterfly recognition. The dataset is designed to gather images of 253 spices of butterflies living in Japan. Each class of the dataset aims at collecting at least 50 images with one single butterfly in one image. The information about butterflies’ families, rarities and endangered levels are also included in the dataset. Furthermore, existing methods are elected for experiment on the dataset for the benchmark of classification on our dataset, and results are given in the paper.
