A recent metro/core optical transceiver is improving its transmission distance and capacity with digital coherent technologies. However, it is difficult to suppress increase of energy increase for further improvement only by employing newer semiconductor processes. We are proposing to utilize multiple aspects to save energy to suspend signal processing corresponding to excessive performance and to suspend circuit corresponding to excessive capacity. It proved that these factors can be combined via transmission format to emit significant energy saving, in simulation study utilizing JPN model. This paper focuses on the contribution of routing management and operation of changing modulation format. Loss in energy saving by taking detour route amounts only to 5% by proper routing management and restriction of the number to changing modulation format induces only 7% loss in energy saving. |
