Design of Microstrip Symmetric-Coupling Quadruplet Bandpass Filters with Transmission Zeros for Symmetric and Asymmetric Frequency Responses

(in English) Bandpass filters (BPFs) composed of four resonators as a basic component, like CQ filters, have been proposed so far. In order to obtain asymmetric frequency responses having transmission zeros (TZs) at lower or upper stopband, BPFs are required to have asymmetric coupling configuration. Such an asymmetric filter structure makes the filter design complicated. To solve the problem, this paper focuses on a quadruplet filter circuit of symmetric coupling configuration, which can generate up
to two TZs both symmetrically and asymmetrically. However, no physical filter structures for this filter circuit have been presented yet. We propose a new symmetric microstrip BPF structure to realize the quadruplet coupling configuration. Three BPFs with two TZs located symmetrically and asymmetrically are designed based on synthesized coupling matrices. The effectiveness of the proposed filter is verified by the comparison between the EM-simulated and measured results.
