Investigation of extracting interlobular septa with Radial Structure Tensor (RST) in micro-CT images

(in English) With the advent of Micro-CT, it is expected that the three-dimensional microstructure analyses of the vital specimen may lead to better understanding of the anatomy of the human. On the topic of microstructure analysis of resected lung specimen, subject such as alveolar extraction was commonly studied, but there were few studies that target the lobule. Thus, in this paper, we report the result of the interlobular extraction as part of the analysis of lung lobule. In the proposed method, we use one of the structure analysis methods, RST to analyze several different structures: sheet, tubular, solid tubular and blob structure in micro-CT volume and extracted the septa. We adapted the proposed method on lung micro-CT volume and confirmed the capability of extracting the septa.
