A basic study on discrimination of speech information broadcasted in different languages at the same time

In multilingual guidance broadcasting, it is common method to repeat the same content in different languages. However, this method is time-consuming. In the present study, simultaneous multilingual broadcasting is investigated to realize both language barrier-free and time efficiency improvement in speech information transmission. The results of listening tests are summarized as follows: (1) A learning effect was found in discrimination rate of speech information for multilingual simultaneous broadcasting, and the rate for the latter half of the broadcasting is increased by the learning effect more intensely than that for the former half. (2) When the learning effect reached the steady state, the discrimination rates were 90% or more in most conditions used in the present study, regardless of the first language of listeners. |
