| (in English) | Recently, ITS (Intelligent transport systems) have been proposed as a method to solve various problems of road traffic. VANET (Vehicular ad hoc network) is one of promising methods to realize the ITS. VANET has been expected to prevent accidents and congestion by exchanging current position information and surrounding traffic information among vehicles. However, due to radio interference caused by obstacles such as buildings, the wireless multihop networks may not be stable. Moreover, vehicles equipped with communicable devices are not widespread, and therefore VANET has been still uncommon. In this paper, we propose an inter-vehicle communication system, implementing location-based peer-to-peer network framework, to reduce traffic accidents by sharing current positions and speeds among vehicles. Using Android mobile phones in which the proposed system is implemented, communication delay of the system is evaluated empirically. We also clarify the practical utility of the proposed system by subjective evaluations of the examinees who experienced in using the system while riding on cars. |
