Gold nanoparticles with two different diameters were used to fabricate single-electron devices made of random arrays of small tunnel junctions. In the fabrication, after silanizing the sample surface of SiO_2, the sample was immersed in a colloidal gold solution to obtain particle arrangement. Then, it was dithiolated and further immersed in gold colloid solution to obtain a random tunnel junction array. For gold colloid solution after dithiolation, a solution including two different particle sizes was used. Regarding the electrical characteristics, the change in the resistance value was investigated with respect to the temperature. In the measurement result, three temperature regions where the temperature change of the resistance value was large appeared. The effect of two kinds of particle sizes was demonstrated. |
