Formation and electron injection characteristics of diamond nanoparticle adsorped layer

(in English) Nanometer-thick films of diamond nanoparticles (DNPs) were prepared by adsorbing DNPs on aluminum surface by either electrophoretic deposition (EPD) or adsorption via a self-assembled monolayer (SAM). With EPD, nanometer-level films were obtained by suppressing the adsorption time. On the other hand, nanometer-thick films were adsorbed by a self-limiting process when a SAM with caroboxy terminal was immersed in DNP dispersion. On the surface of these DNP layers, tris(8-hydroxy-quinolinato)aluminum and silver electrode were vapor-deposited to fabricate electron-only devices. It was observed that electron injection from aluminum to the organic layer can be significantly improved by introducing the DNP layer at the interface.
