An access control mechanism is important to realize stable wireless communication.
As the typical assumptions, it considers a single wireless channel, where every terminal can communicate with each other on the same frequency channel.
On the contrary, the industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) radio band using 2.4GHz is a special case even if it is usually used for WiFi.
The reason is that the IEEE 802.11 standard assigned each channel for 5MHz, but conventional devices transmit a 20MHz bandwidth signal.
As a result, a signal of a neighbor channel has an overlapped bandwidth to own bandwidth, and interference from the overlapped signal deteriorates communication performance.
This paper proposes a new communication system for overlapped multi-channels and a new access control scheme.
Since the proposed scheme employs a different bandwidth signal for access control and data transmission, terminals can recognize a data transmission over neighbor channels.
The benefit of the proposed scheme is multiple simultaneous transmission of the access control message over different channels. Since the receiver should receive different bandwidth signals for access control and data transmission, this paper designs an extended system model of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM). The evaluation results show that the proposed scheme can avoid packet conflicts between neighbor channels. |
