The persuasive strategy of readers through empathy is one of the characteristics pointed out in Japanese sentence theory. Empathy is realized through illustrative examples that include familiar experiences. The idea of empathy is widely understood as a method of writing that takes in the people concerned without getting to overlook and characterizes the composition of sentences. The way of persuasion through exemplifications cannot be refuted unless a negative case is found, so refutation can be avoided by presenting examples over a wide range or by narrowing the scope of expression to statements that affect the reader's understanding. It is a so-called inductive way of thinking. In this paper, we explain the features of this inductive argument by comparing it with the deductive one. |
