Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) As a key function for IoT applications, WPT (Wireless Power Transmission/Transfer) technologies have received great attention recently. There are two major categories in WPT technologies. One of them is non-beam WPT technology, which transfers power to devices using magnetically, capacitively or inductively coupled means in the near field region and is typically used to charge devices, such as mobile phones and electric vehicles. The other category of WPT is beam WPT, which transfers power wirelessly using radio waves over longer distances (several meters or more). The purpose of this paper is to introduce the development of radio regulation regarding beam WPT and to discuss the possibilities of coexistence between beam WPT and existing wireless systems. There are three candidate frequencies for beam WPT, which are 920MHz, 2.4GHz and 5.7GHz. In this paper, we discuss the coexistence between 5.7GHz beam WPT and incumbent wireless LAN (WLAN). We propose to utilize CCA (Clear Channel Assessment) technique for beam-WPT to achieve the coexistence and show some computer simulations results.
