Identification of pick and grasp manipulation based on fingertip force and velocity

(in English) Finger manipulation plays an important role in daily life, and the importance of its analysis is increasing in a variety of research fields. Although many previous studies have examined finger manipulation, experiments have either tested only a limited range of operated objects, or the sensation of the fingertip has been inhibited by attached sensors. The current study focused on hold and pick manipulations, exploring dynamic features of the thumb and index fingers. We used a haptic wearable sensor that could measure finger pressure without inhibiting the operator’s sense of touch and position sensor. Focusing on the pick and grasp operations, two operations on objects of different weights were measured and analyzed quantitatively.
