[Invited Lecture] Technology for Improving Connectivity with Local Networks Assuming Local 5G and Its Demonstration

(in English) Local 5G is expected as a system that enables a unique and advanced local network according to respective local demands. Institutionalization of Local 5G has been already completed in part at 28.2‒28.3 GHz, and the first license of radio devices was issued in February 2020. Thus, efforts toward the practical use of Local 5G has been intensified. Meanwhile, there still has some problems such as reducing deployment and operation costs and improving usability for the further spread and development of Local 5G, and there is a strong demand for improving the connectivity with local networks separated from the public network, especially for the mobile users. In this paper, the authors introduce NICT’s R&D activities for improving the connectivity with such independent local networks and show demonstration experiments.
