The development of a method for back posture measurement not requiring specialists or expensive equipment is vital for conducting research that targets the elderly in the community. We succeeded in calculating the angle for estimating thoracic kyphosis without using lateral image markers of an elderly’s face (cranio-horizontal angle in the supine; CHAS), which was taken using a digital camera. In this study, we first analyzed the correlation between the measurement results of CHAS images taken from the left and right sides and determined the measurement side. Next, we confirmed the CHAS reliability by comparing the results of experts and general university students. As a result, the reliability of the measurement results of experts and general university students was high, with high correlation between the left and right measurement results. Hence, it can be expected that measurement using CHAS will be generalized as a simple posture measurement method. |
