Study of packet control technology aiming at realizing µs order jitter

(in English) One of the main performances provided in the 5th Generation mobile communication (5G) is "ultra-low latency", and many applications that utilize this "ultra-low latency" have been considered. Then, the standard related to low latency in the wired packet networks such as IETF Deterministic Networking (DetNet) IETF Deterministic Networking (DetNet) and IEEE802.1 Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) has been carried out. DetNet aims to set an upper limit on the probability distribution of delay, and TSN aims to eliminate delay factors and reduce delay. In this paper, after explaining the outline of low-delay standardization, we describe Time Aware Shaper (TAS), which is one of the TSN technologies, and its problems. Asynchronous Traffic Shaper (ATS) is introduced as a TSN technology that solves the problems in TAS. Since ATS does not have a function to change the processing for each packet, there are cases where ultra-low delay cannot be guaranteed, and this be described. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a packet control technology that aim to make the jitter is on the order of µs by adding a function to change the processing on a packet-by-packet basis to the ATS function, and we describe future work to the proposed method.
