Performance Evaluation of Dynamic Task Assignment with MEC Platform

(in English) In the MEC platform environment, the MEC server and the cloud server are used together, and the performance of the application can be maintained by appropriately allocating each task to each server.
Here, the tasks in an application can be categorized into two types of tasks; real time tasks and non-real time tasks.
In addition, in order to reduce the amount of traffic in communication networks, it is necessary to process many tasks on the MEC server.
However, it is difficult for the MEC server to process a large number of non-real time tasks due to its low processing performance.
In an MEC platform environment, it is necessary to dynamically allocate real time and non-real time tasks to the server according to the situation.
In this paper, we evaluate the impact of the server allocation of real time and non-real time tasks on the amount of traffic in communication networks when dynamic task allocation technology is used in the MEC platform environment.
We evaluate three different allocation methods by considering the number of tasks, task size, and the maximum processing load of the MEC server.
In the performance evaluation, we investigate the impact of various parameters on the amount of traffic for three allocation methods in communication networks.
We evaluate the performance of the three allocation methods in a numerical example and show the impact on the amount of traffic in communication networks.
