Modeling Inter-sector Air Traffic Flow and Congestion Degree Prediction
Ryosuke Mishima, Kunihiko Hiraishi (JAIST) MSS2020-49
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In 2015, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transportation have started to provide information on aircraft flying over Japan, called CARATS Open Data, and conducted research on aviation systems actively. Airspace is divided into sectors, which are used for limiting air traffic to control safely and efficiently. The demand for air transportation is increasing. By this reason, new optimization techniques and efficient control have been demanded to predict and resolve demand-capacity imbalances in the airspace. In this paper, we aim to build models by applying clustering analysis to state transition matrices generated from CARATS Open Data. In addition, we propose a method to predict congestion of sector based on Aggregate Sector Flow Model and evaluates the prediction accuracy.
