| (in English) | This article redefines research ethics as an aid to ethical decision-making in research during the different stages of research processes, from designing and performing it to publishing results, by analyzing the Internet Research Ethical Guidelines (IRE guidelines) of the Association of Internet Researchers (AoIR) and argues that the raison d'être of research ethics is to build and maintain trust among stakeholders with reference to research projects, as well as to prevent and to mitigate any possible harm that may arise from it to stakeholders, their societies and the environment. While conducting internet research in humanities and social sciences, researchers should refer to/follow the ethics of fieldwork in sociology, cultural anthropology, and folklore studies, and the researchers and staff must treat the human subject not as a mere source of data, but as a human being during the research as well as after the result is published. The maintenance of the whole process of research ethically might be accompanied with various difficulties, so researchers need the departments and agencies which support their ethical behavior during it. | |
