Estimation of spatial auditory masking based on computational auditory models -- in case of band noise masker and pure-tone probe --

(in English) The Spatial Auditory Masking (SAM) is the relation of binaural masking to sound source positions corresponding to masker and probe (maskee), and making clear its property leads to its application to the codec of the sound signals taking into account the spatial characteristics of the corresponding sound sources. On the other hand, number of parameters affecting the SAM is numerously increased due to consideration on the sound source positions of the masker and probe. Therefore it is unpractical to investigate the SAM based on the hearing experiments. In our previous article, estimation of the SAM was attempted based on combination of two auditory models concerning a monaural masking and a model of Binaural Masking Level Difference (BMLD), named the Equalization and Cancellation (EC) model [Takane et al., Tech. Rep. IEICE, 120(128), EA2020-17, 23-27, 2020]. In this article, experimental results on the SAM for various sound source arrangements with band noise maskers and pure tone probes were estimated based on the proposed model. It was shown that the experimental results on the SAM can be estimated by using the proposed model with fair accuracy.
