In rust removal by irradiation with high-power laser light, it is desirable to make the beam spot smaller in order to increase the light power density of the light irradiating on the rust. However, when the Gaussian beam is focused by a normal convex lens, the Rayleigh length is proportional to the square of the beam radius, so increasing the optical power density and extending the depth of focus are in a trade-off relationship. During the rust removal work, it is difficult to fix the laser emitting head because the head is held by hand. Therefore, in the case of an emitted beam having a short depth of focus, it often deviates from the range of high optical power density form the rust removal target, which causes a problem that the working time becomes long. As a means to solve the problem, we create a diffraction optical element that generates a light beam that keeps the beam spot small within a desired range from a Gaussian beam. The specific specification is that the full width at half maximum is within about 400μm in the range of +/-200mm centered on the point 500mm away from the exit surface of the diffraction optical element, and it was confirmed by an experiment that the performance was as designed. |
