As a physical layer anti-eavesdropping technique, we have proposed spatially-selective modulation (SSM) which uses multiple transmitting antennas and a single receiving antenna. In the technique, phase-modulated signals are transmitted from the multiple antennas so as to correctly reconstruct the signal only at the position of the legitimate receiver after spatially combining of the multiple signals. It is realized by the location dependence of a wireless channel. The previous study on SSM has used a statistical channel model assuming Rayleigh fading for the quantitative analysis of the performance. On the other hand, in this paper, a raytracing channel model is used to consider a deterministic propagation path. By using the raytracing channel model, it is possible to evaluate the performance of SSM in a viewpoint of spatial distribution of the transmitter, receiver and eavesdropper. As a specific example of possible evaluation of the model, we focus on an antenna selection system where SSM is performed by selecting limited number of transmitting antennas (4) from multiple ones (8). In the results of an analysis on the channel coefficient between the transmitting and receiving antennas, the location probability of high risk positions for eavesdropping decreases as the variance of the amplitude of the channel coefficients between multiple transmitting antennas and a single receiving antenna increases. We showed that anti-eavesdropping performance is improved by selecting the transmitting antennas based on the variance of the amplitude of the channel coefficients. |
