Influence of Design-SNR on Error Rate Performance Employing BP Decoder

(in English) Belief Propagation (BP) decoding, which is commonly used to decode Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) codes, is an effective way to reduce the decoding delay. However, the error rate performance of BP decoding is degraded. In this paper, we study the effect of the design signal-to-noise ratio (design-SNR) on the bit error rate (BER) performance of BP decoding. First, we generate multiple Polar codes with multiple design-SNRs. Based on the BER performance, we optimize the Polar codes used for BP decoding. As a result of the simulation under the condition of code length N=1024 and coding ratio R=1/2, it is found that the BER performance is slightly improved by setting slightly larger design-SNR.
