A Study on FDTD Simulation of Lens Antennas for Spatial Synthetic Exposure System

(in English) A novel 60 GHz band exposure system has been newly developed for studies on thermal thresholds of biological effects of humans exposed to millimeter waves (MMW) that are 5th generation wireless systems (5G) and beyond-5G candidate frequency bands. To achieve high duty exposure on the desired area, we adopted two lens antennas and proposed spatial synthetic beam-type exposure. In order to achieve exposure dosimetry estimation of the spatial synthetic exposure system using FDTD (Finite Difference Time Domain) method, the relationship between calculation accuracy and voxel modeling has to be considered carefully. In this paper, we discuss the modeling method of the two lens antennas at 60 GHz and how to minimize errors due to the staircase approximation using the FDTD method for electromagnetic field analysis.
