Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Low-loss antennas and feeding circuits are required in 280 GHz band. Single-end and differential lines exist for IC chip terminal. To connect differential line to single-end transition, a balun is required, which increases the loss and the size of feeding circuits and limits bandwidth due to impedance matching. In this study, we designed the differential line to waveguide transition in multi-layer dielectric substrates using X-shaped patch element to reduce the overall size greatly, connecting the signal line from narrow wall of the waveguide. The performance changing geometrical parameters of the transition is evaluated by electromagnetic simulation.
