Fabrication and application of sensing device using monolayer graphene

(in English) Monolayer graphene is an ultrathin two-dimensional material with a thickness of thinner than 1 nm, consisting of sp2 carbon atoms. Due to its extremely high thermal conductivity and electron mobility and excellent chemical and thermal stability, it is expected to have various applications such as electrodes and chemical / biosensors. On the other hand, there has been a problem in the fabrication and use of devices with monolayer graphene, because the adhesion between the surface of the substrate such as glass or silicon and the graphene layer is not strong enough. The graphene layer easily peels off especially in the reaction and cleaning in a wet environment. We have succeeded in producing a highly durable monolayer graphene sensing device by adding an originally developed chemical treatment of the substrate surface. In this paper, we introduce an example of application of our monolayer graphene sensing device to a fluorescence detection type biosensor and electrochemical sensor.
