Expected Effective Rate Guaranteed Distributed Processing Allocation Method Based on Resource Availability for Real-Time Video Processing

(in English) Our laboratory is working on the implementation of AMec (Access Metro Edge Computing), an edge computing technology that utilizes the surplus computational resources of network devices in an access metro network. In AMec, the computational resources are not occupied for user applications as in general edge computing but are borrowed from the surplus computational resources of the network devices. Therefore, the computational resources may be ordered to be surrendered for network control and a resource allocation method that does not consider that may cause the application to be suspended or stopped. In this paper, we propose a frame-by-frame allocation method for real-time video processing with high availability in AMec, taking into account the availability probability of computational resources. The proposed method successfully reduces the computational resource consumption per session compared to simple load balancing, while improving the application continuity.
