[Invited Talk] Goals of Beyond 5G R&D at NICT -- Heart behind the NICT White Paper --

(in English) The future society after 2030 is required to respond to sudden social issues such as infectious diseases as well as the aging and working population issues. Information and communication networks are expected to have more sophisticated functions and features for solving the issues, but also expected to review and implement its ideal way of existence as a fundamental social infrastructure. In particular after 2030s, Beyond 5G is expected not just for notable features such as ultra-high speed, ultra-low latency, and ultra-large number of connections, but also for solving social issues that have been considered difficult and optimizing society as a whole by actively coordinating with systems other than the information and communication technologies, for example, expansion of communication areas to the sky and ocean and fusion of the real world and virtual world. Therefore, Beyond 5G needs to have an established architecture as an open platform, on the basis of philosophy that the it ensures flexible architecture that allows systems from different fields to work together as an open platform. The architecture should seek for agreement of wide area of stakeholders, thus NICT has published Beyond 5G/6G White Paper. In this paper, one of the important perspectives of Beyond 5G R&D at NICT is introduced based on the white paper.
