Diffraction of an E-polarized plane wave by a slit in a thin conducting screen -- Derivation of a solution incorporating arbitrary edge property --

(in English) The diffraction of an E-polarized electromagnetic plane wave by a slit in a perfect conducting screen with an infinitesimal thickness is formulated by the method of the Kobayashi potential (KP method) and the problem is reduced to an infinite-dimensional simultaneous equation of expansion coefficients. Calculating the electric-field distributions on the slit for various edge properties by using a solution that can be incorporated an arbitrary edge property, the convergence of the solution with respect to the number of truncation was investigated. In particular, we have clarified the reason why the convergence of the solution is improved when the correct edge property is incorporated into the solution, based on the derived theoretical formula.
