To accommodate the growing demand for cloud services, the underlying network infrastructures and datacenters (DCs) form network-cloud ecosystems hosting these services and are continuously evolving. Novel open and disaggregated optical-networking technologies promise to enhance multi-vendor interoperability thanks to their open interfaces in both data-plane and control/management-plane. From the viewpoint of disaster resilience in network-cloud ecosystems, such interoperability will significantly improve the flexibility in product selection with regard to replacing damaged subsystems with products of different vendors. In addition, cooperation among datacenter providers (DCPs) and network carriers is necessary to support today’s ubiquitous cloud services. We investigate the approach to enhance resilience of future optical network and cloud ecosystems with three dimensions: openness, disaggregation and cooperation between networks and clouds. In this report, we introduce our studies on the integration/control and cooperation mechanism of heterogeneous network and cloud systems in disaster recovery. |
