Underwater communication is one of the key challenges for 6G. Although optical communication using laser beams has been a promising option for underwater communication in the past, controlling the optical axis of highly directional laser beams under the influence of waves and other factors has been a major practical challenge. While optical communication cameras (OCC) are a promising new optical spatial communication technology, there has been little research on underwater OCC. In this study, we focus on the fact that light signals emitted by LEDs show different absorption and scattering characteristics depending on the wavelength in water, propose an image processing method for light sources captured by a receiver camera, and report the results of experiments conducted in a swimming pool and other locations. |
