Thanks to the high bandwidth available at millimeter-wave (mmWave), mmWave communications support high data rates and large traffic volumes. However, mmWave communications are vulnerable to sudden blockage of the line-of-sight environment.Various discussions have been held on this issue because ensuring communication reliability is an important issue. In this paper, we predict the future state of pedestrians, the main cause of the blockage, utilizing time-series data of people flow, such as pedestrian flow and density, in a certain space. The average walking speed in the space is calculated by giving the predicted values of people flow to a pedestrian model used in urban space design.Furthermore, we define the occurrence of blockage as the existence of a person in the first Fresnel zone, and based on the above information, we calculate the estimated value of the time-series data of the duration of the blockage in the space. In this paper, we evaluate the above methods via human blockage experimental measurements and computer simulations. The estimation accuracy of the true duration of blockage obtained from the experimental measurements and that derived from the pedestrian model and the first Fresnel zone are evaluated. In the computer simulation, open data of people flow is utilized to predict the time series, and the effect of the prediction error of the people flow on the estimation accuracy of the duration of the blockage is clarified. |
