In recent years, the demand for services using wireless communication has increased rapidly, creating a demand for more advanced wireless communication technology. The automobile industry, which is undergoing a period of significant change, is no exception. Towards the realization of autonomous driving and connected cars, collection and transmission of vehicle data must be done under strict communication requirements using Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X). However, ITS is heavily dependent on ground base stations and some services will be halted in case of base station damage. Thus, as a solution to this issue, it is assumed that Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) will be used as base stations. In ITS, direct communication between User Equipments (UEs) is called New Radio (NR) Sidelink. There are two modes of NR Sidelink: Mode 1 is centrally controlled by the base station, and Mode 2 is autonomously controlled by the UEs. Transmission delay depends on the number of UEs in each mode, making it necessary to carefully consider the correlation between operating modes, the number of UEs, and the delay. In this study, we propose a method to control the operation mode of each UE based on the UAV's flight position towards efficient allocation of communication resources and comprehensive reduction of delay in NR Sidelink for V2X communications, demonstrating its effectiveness through performance evaluation. |
