Radar Image Simulation Based on the Foldy-Lax Equations Including Multiple Scattering Effects
Takuma Watanabe (FSI) SANE2022-31
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Numerical models used in radar signal processing often assume a single or Born approximation, where the effects of multiple scattering between scatterers are not considered. However, many practical targets, including simple objects such as a dihedral reflector and cavity, cause strong multiple scattering. Thus, a model that considers the multiple scattering effects while evaluating several radar signal processing algorithms is required. Although a full-wave numerical electromagnetic solver can be used here, it has a high computational burden, and the results are often difficult to interpret. In this study, we examine a scattering model based on the Foldy-Lax equations as a radar signal model, where multiple scattering between point scatterers were considered; moreover, this model was utilized in radar imaging simulation.
