Multi-hop Wake-up Control for top-k Query in Wireless Sensor Networks

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In this paper, we focus on top-k query in on-demand Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) employing wake-up receivers, which aims to grasp the information on top-k data in the network. As a wake-up control for top-k query, CountDown Content-based Wake-up (CDCoWu) has been proposed, which assumes a single-hop network. However, in order to expand the sensing area, the extension to multi-hop operations is required. Therefore, this work proposes an extended version of CDCoWu, which can be applied to a clustering based two-hop network. We also show that the superiority of CDCoWu based scheme and UniCast Wake-up (UCWu) based scheme, which performs wake-up control based on the unique ID of each sensor node, changes depending on the cluster size. Based on this result, a hybrid scheme is proposed to appropriately select CDCoWu and UCWu based schemes according to the given cluster size, and the effectiveness of the proposed scheme is verified by computer simulations.
