Temporal Correlation Analysis of Interference in V2I Communications Under Spatially Correlated Shadowing

(in English) Vehicular communications having various emergency applications, such as collision avoidance and auto-driving,
require ultra-high reliability and quality of communications. Therefore, it has become crucial to analyze the characteristics
of the interference. However, its characteristics have not been studied sufficiently; In particular, the impact of spatially correlated
shadowing has not been clarified. This study theoretically analyzes the temporal characteristics of the interference
in vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communications under spatially correlated shadowing via a stochastic geometry approach.
Specifically, we model a road system and the locations of vehicles by using a Poisson line Cox process and express the effect
of spatially correlated shadowing by Gudmundson’s model. By assuming an i.i.d. mobility model of vehicles, we analyze the
temporal correlation coefficient of interference and the interference coherence time at a tagged receiver fixed on a road, such
as a roadside unit. Because the exact expressions of these metrics cannot be derived explicitly, we derive their approximate
expressions when the variation of the shadowing is large. Furthermore, by presenting numerical examples, we evaluate the
impacts of various system parameters on the temporal correlation of the interference and the usefulness of the approximate
analysis results.
