The authors study an attack that presents a pseudo pulse wave signal to a photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor. A previous study proposed a method for actively presenting pulse waves to a PPG sensor using an LCD display. In this paper, we propose an attack method to present pseudo pulse wave signals by reducing and reflecting the light output by the PPG sensor using an LCD shutter and a mirror. We also report the evaluation results on 15 types of smartwatches on the market. |
