Diffusion Performance Evaluation of Complementary Data Transmission Control Method for Large Spatio-Temporal Data Retention

(in English) Spatio-temporal data is a type of IoT data that depends on the generated geographical location and time, such as weather and traffic information. To effectively utilize such STDs at a position close to the user, we have proposed a spatio-temporal data retention system (STD-RS) using VANETs. In the STD-RS, we also have proposed transmission control methods for large spatio-temporal data retention because STDs are not only simple sensor data but also media data such as photos and videos. However, previous researches are difficult to effectively retain large STDs when some data consisting of an STD is frequently lost due to packet collisions and the deterioration of wireless link quality on a communication channel. In this paper, we propose a complementary data transmission control scheme in which vehicles effectively complement lost data to surrounding vehicles. We evaluated the diffusion performance of the proposed scheme under the environment where all the nodes are fixed. Simulation results show that our proposed scheme can diffuse and retain large spatio-temporal data effectively even under severe conditions of a wireless environment.
