Signal Phase Recovery Using Digital Signal Processing in Optical Wireless Communication Systems

(in English) Research and development of optical wireless communication systems has been active. Optical receivers usually use a phase-locked loop (PLL) to regenerate the clock, but recent advances in digital signal processing technology have made phase-locking without a PLL possible. However, recent advances in digital signal processing technology have made phase-locking without a PLL possible. Therefore, in this paper, software-based signal phase regeneration processes such as M-th power phase estimation method and decision-directed phase estimation method has been applied to multi-level modulation scheme experiments. Moreover, experiments using a simultaneous clock transmission method, in which clock signal is simultaneously transmitted with a different wavelength from a signal wave were conducted. As a result, it was confirmed that stable communication is possible within a certain distance without using PLL in the multi-level modulation scheme.
