Performance of OFDM Receiver Combining PSA-EKF Phase Noise Compensation and One-Tap Equalization for Radio Backhaul Links

(in English) This paper proposes OFDM receiver structure that includes one-tap equalization between pilot symbol assisted (PSA) phase noise compensation (PNC) and iterative PNC using an extended Kalman filter (EKF) for radio backhaul links. The proposed receiver achieves a low computational complexity level because low-density parity-check (LDPC) decoding is conducted only once after the phase noise in the received signal is suppressed to a low level using PSA-EKF PNC. Computer simulation results show that the required received signal-to-noise power ratio (SNR) satisfying the bit error rate (BER) of 10−8 of the PSA-EKF PNC is decreased by approximately 1.0 dB compared to that using PSA PNC only when using LDPC coding with a coding rate of 8/9 in Rummer fading channels. The BER performance using the PSA-EKF PNC and one-tap equalization with LDPC coding is very close to that without the phase noise in the Rummler fading channel for OFDM radio backhaul links.
