Phase measurement and adjustment of reflector antenna with beam waveguide feeds

(in English) In recent years, the use of multiple 32-m class medium-sized reflector antennas arranged in an array configuration has been considered as an alternative to 70-m class large reflector antennas. In the literature, it is assumed that the phase is adjusted by signal processing in the receiving system, but when used as a transmitting antenna, it is necessary to know the passing phase of each reflector antenna and correct it. In many cases, the scale of antennas assumed here has a beam waveguide system. The beam waveguide feeding system has a long propagation path length from the transmitter or receiver, and there are large individual differences among antennas. Therefore, to adjust the radiation phase of reflector antennas with a beam waveguide feeding system, this paper proposes a method for measuring the transmission phase of the reflector antennas. A reflected plate is placed in the center hole at the center of the primary reflector, and the reflection phase at the primary radiator horn is measured and half of it is used as the transmission phase. The proposed method was verified by actual measurements using calculated values and a simplified model. Furthermore, when the reflection phase was measured in a reflector antenna with an actual beam waveguide feeding system, a phenomenon that the phase fluctuated with AZ rotation was observed.
