Continuous-variable (CV) quantum key distribution (QKD) has its distinct advantages in lower-cost
implementation and multiplexing due to the affinity to the classical optical telecommunication. However, security analyses of CV QKD is not much matured. Here, we apply the security analysis based on complementarity, which has been used for discrete-variable QKD, to a binary-modulation CV QKD protocol in order to improve its performance. It turned out that a CV degree of freedom not utilized in the previous analyses can now be utilized to evaluate the information leakage more tightly. As a result, the key rate of the protocol under the pure-loss channel scales linearly with respect to the attenuation rate, which is expected yet not achieved in the existing security proofs. |
