Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) With the ever-growing demand for uplink communications in beyond fifth generation mobile communications (beyond 5G), massive multi-user multi-input multi-output (MIMO) will continue to be the key technique to improve the uplink communication capacity. As a low-complexity and high-accurate multi-user detection (MUD) to achieve this, the iterative MUD algorithm via generalized approximate message passing (GAMP) has been investigated by link-level evaluation. In this report, we evaluate the system-level performance with GAMP-based MUD algorithm, which has not been clarified yet. In this evaluation, a scheduler of a base station (BS) selects spatially multiplexed user equipment (UE) devices and modulation and coding scheme (MCS) for each UE based on estimated signal to interference and noise power ratio (SINR) after MUD. However, since it is difficult to analytically compute the SINR after GAMP-based MUD due to the non-linear structure, we investigate to estimate the SINR by correcting the SINR computed based on the zero forcing (ZF) criterion using outer loop link adaptation (OLLA). In addition, considering the fact that performance difference between ZF and GAMP depends on the combination of multiplexed UEs, we propose an OLLA method using different offsets of OLLA for each combination. The system level simulation results show that GAMP has a good throughput performance and that the proposed OLLA method further improves the throughput.
