Finding of Corporate Growth Patterns by Shapley Values -- Case Study of Academy Development in the J-League --

(in English) This paper explores the financial indicators (variables) that contribute to the J-league ranking of a club by regression analysis. Shapley values are used to interpret the results, because they can calculate the contribution of each explanatory variable to the target variable using the characteristic function of each club, allowing us to calculate the cost-effectiveness of the explanatory variables based on the internal characteristics of the club. Although the usual strategy is to improve the ranking by increasing the financial investment, we found that there were some medium-sized clubs that achieve improvement in the ranking by investing in the academy operation expenses. After showing that the Shapley value of academy management fees alone is not sufficient as a measurement of academy development achievement, we propose Matsuhashi's Measure that is its Shapley value times the participation ratio of graduated academy players. We show that this measure is effective in identifying growing medium-sized clubs.
