Differential OFDM with Parallel Blind Demodulation Employing Different Re-Samplers for Underwater Acoustic Communications

(in English) Underwater acoustic communications (UWAC) suffer from double selectivity, where doubly-selective channels suffer from severe time and frequency selectivity simultaneously. UWAC channels can be approximated by sparse channels with multiple static paths with Doppler shifts. These channels can be simplified as 2-path static channels with Doppler shifts. This paper compares the performances of differential orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) employing multiple differential detection (MDD) with channel prediction on the 2-path static channels. The authors reported that differential OFDMs employing MDD with channel prediction are suitable for double selectivity on the 2-path static channels. This paper shows that differential OFDMs with parallel blind demodulation employing different re-samplers can compensate for mismatch due to the average frequency offset on the 2-path static channels.
